YURIY RYASHKO - 09/18/2019

Boom, boom, boom!!! It is time! With humanity accelerating its development in the 21st century, we are bringing you our new app concept with the long-awaited platforms, macOS and AppleTV. Just as expected in the 21st century, it is both super-powerful and super-simple-and-friendly to use. And surely, as you expected, there is a huge update of high quality routes, both AR-enhanced and standard ones.

New Features - Highlighted Functionality

Here is a quick overview for this release. After watching, you will be ready to go and download. :)

For those who did not go immediately and download, but want to learn more, let’s take a look at the new features and details.

REDESIGNED UI AND USER EXPERIENCE

A few words need to be said about the approach. With the design of the new app, our team wanted to get rid of all the annoying issues with the old, past interface, and take into account feedback accumulated over the years from our users, partners and community.  So, the #1 priority for the new app was SIM-PLI-CI-TY - while the basic concept and underlying technology did not change on both Augmented and Virtual Routes - everything is still about the rides at your favorite locations, iconic cycling places or next race.

*This a start screen. In the future, the fourth plate in the middle right part will show up, demonstrating your last activities and results.

From the start screen, you are just 1 Click away from:

  • Starting a ride
  • Choosing a Route
  • Joining a Challenge or Race (Time Trial)
  • Connecting your sensors or trainer unit
  • Accessing main settings

*New Route Gallery View, all interactive

This is what the brand-new app concept aims for and does provide:  the utmost simplicity and immersiveness. A high level of immersiveness is achieved with the improved FULL HD video quality for existing apps and QHD availability in the new app. And the next point is just about that.

“4K READY” / QUAD HD VIDEO QUALITY

The video resolutions of 540p, 720p, 1080p are available now for online streaming, and 1440p (QHD 2560 × 1440 pixels) only for downloaded routes.

The current release ends the public beta period for our augmented reality/routes (AR) as a feature.  The new app enhances Augmented Routes 2.0 - completely auto-smoothed elevation profile with a top-level, realistic immersive feel and much better video quality - 1440p with the super high bitrate -> comparable to 4K. Extended description and details are here.

Streaming 4K is very challenging for both the server side and user’s network infrastructure, but one day it will be there. With the available QHD, we are just one ladder step closer to that goal.

UNLIMITED VIRTUAL PARTNERS

Basically, this feature allows you to simulate any race...Yes, any race from the past or any race still to take place in the future. No more 1-3 rider limitations! Do you want to ride in a crowded peloton? Just click as many times as the number of riders you want to see on that course and...voila!

Any ride and record can be visualized and replayed, based on on the real second-by-second historic ride data. If you don’t like to be compared to others, you can switch to a comparison of yesterday’s you and your own best efforts. Just put your nickname in the search window, and choose only your records from the past. Yep, welcome to the Matrix! You are in a race with a dozen “you’s” all around. Don’t fail that one - your own projections are watching you! ;) No, it is not a fairy tale and you are not a magician, but it works just like that.

GROUP RIDES

Nothing changes. You will see any riders in real-time if they are on the same AR course at the same time as you. To ride together, bring your friends online or find riding partners in the Rouvy Athletes group.

A little spoiler here:  official group rides for different time zones are planned for the upcoming winter.

CUSTOMIZED RIDER MODELS

Avatars now have the option to be modified with the possibility of changing their jersey, apparel color and skin color.

Both male and female 3D models were improved. Once you test and check them out, let us know if you like them.

QUICK AND REDESIGNED TRAINER CONNECTION

The connection process has been automated to the highest possibility that the hardware allows at the moment.

With a click on “Connect Trainer,”  the app will scan the available sensors in the vicinity, (without browsing any long unfolding equipment lists) and all you need to do is CLICK to confirm the chosen sensor. Yeah - that is it!

NEW AR AND STANDARD ROUTES

Following our tradition, a part of every big release is new exciting roads to explore.

This time, we ride some UK Classics in Scotland and the UK. Find the full overview of the new released routes in this blog post.

downloaded Rouvy for Mac (have latest updates.
trying to connect sensor (kicks core) and there is a message at common of screen saying bluetooth turned off, you need to connect to bluetooth. I am definitely connected to bluetooth.
    Any help appreciated
    • BianchiGirl - 07/02/2021
Try and first reboot your Mac then turn BT off and then on again.
    • BianchiGirl - 06/11/2021
You may have Bluetooth but not have it enabled in the top menu at the top of the max screen. Check that it’s turned on there.
  • apricat - 05/15/2021
how do I recalibrate Kickr core? wahoo app not available at App Store. can I recalibrate on Rouvy without wahoo fitness app?
    thanks
    • yuriy888 - 05/17/2021
@apricat, the best way to do the calibration is via the manufacturer apps where you can make sure your firmware is up to date. For any related questions pls contact Wahoo's support desk. Cheers.
    • BianchiGirl - 05/16/2021
The Wahoo app is definitely available on the App Store. I recently downloaded it. That’s the only way. Take another look.
      • apricat - 05/16/2021
        BianchiGirl,
thank you for replying. I can only see wahoo Vpn. is that what I need? this is for Mac only not other apple products.
        • BianchiGirl - 05/16/2021
The one I have is on my iPhone called Wahoo Fitness.
  • waltmason - 05/11/2021
I'm unable to access the app on my MacBook, which I've been using flawlessly since last October. I've logged out, rebooted, etc., and on attempting to log back in the App says "Cannot Contact Server . . . " Is this a known issue?
    • yuriy888 - 05/12/2021
Nope, probably something on your side with the Wi-fi or Internet connection. But equally may be something on our backend. Pls drop a message to support@rouvy.com with your configuration details for the check. Thank you.
      • waltmason - 05/12/2021
Thank you. Everything else on my end seems to be working normally. I've been in touch with support@ and downloaded the newest version, but no change. Fingers crossed for more help and solution.
  • user_718216 - 05/02/2021
    Dutch versie
    • yuriy888 - 05/03/2021
Hi, only English at the moment. But more localizations will come in the future. Cheers.
  • user_718216 - 05/02/2021
Bestaat Rouvy ook ineen Nederlandse versie?
  • dan-l - 03/29/2021
Hi Is there any update for when Workouts will be available on AR?
  • youngstirs - 03/21/2021
I have recently begun using the Rouvy AR version instead of the older version (finally made the switch). Is there a way to change the order and arrangement of the metrics shown (i.e. watts, HR, cadence, etc.) and/or enlarge them? I find them much harder to see compared to the older version. Also, I miss being able to see the total calories burned, avg. speed, HR, watts, etc.). Any chance that can be seen?
    • BianchiGirl - 03/21/2021
No problem with this actually as many people are mirroring their app to a large screen TV where size then doesn't matter! :-)
And while riding to see your data you just click on the top right menu where you can immediately view your statistics at that point on your ride.
      • johnbeevers - 03/21/2021
Also, in the settings you can choose to enlarge the user interface size up to 150%.
        • youngstirs - 03/23/2021
John, I can't see anywhere in settings that allows this. Can you clarify?
          Thanks,
          • BianchiGirl - 03/23/2021
Apologies, my bad, I should have mentioned this. The UI scale can be found in the app under Settings from the top right menu. Scroll down a bit and see UI Scale.

    Hi, loving Rouvy.
Sometimes I am using an ipad with a HDMI link to a TV and other times an android phone, again linked to the TV by cable.
Even though the devices are charging I end my ride with a net deficit in device battery percentage.
A recent 21 km route took the phone from 98% to 48% even though it was charging at the same time. Effectively I will be limited to routes under 40 km before the device battery dies.
The ipad fares a little better but still lost a net 25% on the climb of Stelvio whilst simultaneously charging.
Is this normal for Rouvy to be so power hungry?
Do you have any tips to reduce power consumption?
    • yuriy888 - 03/10/2021
Hi, to me it looks like your batteries are pretty worn out over years. Disregarding the use they tend to slowly die with time. If that is the case, you will have to replace them sooner or later with new ones. Also, you can shut down other running apps (if any) reduce the display brightness level in your display settings before the ride. For other cases, you are welcome to ask for additional advice on ROUVY Athletes | Cycing FB group. There is a helpful community of fellow Rouviers. Thanks for using, ROUVY. Ride on!

Any timing on getting non video Workouts into the AR app? And the ability to calibrate the trainer? (mine a powerbeam pro). There's still a pretty big delta between the original app and the new AR one.
    • yuriy888 - 01/04/2021
Agree with the difference but no exact timing for the merge yet, just stay tuned for the updates. We would recommend acquiring a newer middle range direct drive trainer for a much better enjoyable experience. Once you get it, you will be able to sell your old CPBP. Cheers.
